Frequently Asked Questions – Oil
Our delivery service operates between Monday and Friday. We may deliver on a Saturday for orders deemed an emergency. This is at the discretion of depot management.
The average delivery time is within 5 working days. However, large numbers of orders, adverse weather conditions and difficult delivery locations can impact delivery times.
Delivery times increase in the busy winter period so, we highly recommend that customers place orders when their tank is at 30%. This allows us the time to deliver and prevents tanks from running dry. It is especially important to customers in the Western Isles because of the ferry crossing. Sales staff will advise you of when the next scheduled sailing is, when you place your order. Please be aware that adverse weather conditions and ferry cancellations impact delivery times.
The average delivery time is within 5 working days. As a standard we do not offer same day deliveries. Gleaner operations staff route deliveries to be as timely and efficient as possible.
The minimum quantity of fuel we can deliver is 500 litres. Gleaner tankers are calibrated to make a minimum delivery of 500 litres, in compliance with weights and measures legislation.
Customers can opt in to receive a SMS message prior to delivery. Gleaner also offers a courtesy phone call service the day before delivery. Please advise sales staff if you require this service.
If your tank will not take the full quantity of fuel ordered, the driver will fill your tank with the maximum amount it can hold. (500 litre minimum).
Customers receive a delivery ticket/invoice for the volume the driver has delivered to the tank.
Please contact us asap and we will do our best to get a delivery to you as quickly as possible.
Please be aware that if you run out of fuel, it is likely that you will need to call out a boiler service engineer to bleed the fuel line from your storage tank, to get the boiler started again safely.
If you require the services of a boiler engineer please contact our Boiler Maintenance Department on 01343 557435 to discuss your requirements.
No, you do not need to be at the property for delivery. Please ensure the driver has access to the tank and that the tank is unlocked.
The driver will post your delivery ticket/invoice through your letterbox detailing the volume delivered and total cost of the delivery.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need to make an enquiry about your delivery. A member of the Gleaner team will contact you if there is an issue with your delivery.
It is Gleaner policy that new customers pay upfront for their first order. Payment is taken when the order is placed.
We then advise that you join our budget payment plan and pay by monthly Direct Debit to ensure your account has a credit balance for your next order. The Budget Payment plan prevents any unexpected bills.
You can also opt for a variable Direct Debit – This option takes the full cost of your delivery from your bank on the 10th of the following month.
Customers on Direct Debit have standard credit terms – payment by the 10th of the following month to clear any balance. Accounts should always be cleared by May 31st each year.
Please be aware that if you choose not to set up a Direct Debit, we ask for payment at the time of ordering your fuel.
