Gleaner Joins Career Ready

My name is Ruairidh, and I am a 16-year-old career-ready student at Buckie High School. I am currently participating in a four-week paid internship at Gleaner as part of the Career Ready program. This program is designed to provide students with valuable insights into the professional world, aiding them in making informed decisions about their future career paths through experienced learning.

Throughout my time at Gleaner, my objective has been to cultivate professional competencies essential for future career endeavours. This has helped me improve my communication and teamwork skills.  I have gained experience collaborating with various departments, including Traffic, Boiler Maintenance Services and Marketing.

In Traffic my involvement with Gleaners daily Vehicle Off Road (VOR) reports taught me so much about the company and how it operates. Furthermore, I enjoyed my contribution to the marketing department, specifically looking into the competitor’s digital world helping to find ways to improve Gleaners’ digital presence.

This exposure has provided me with valuable insights into gleaner’s operational structure and the daily functions of its diverse teams, solidifying my interest in this field and potentially shaping my future career path.
