Career Ready

Hi, I’m Eilidh Regan, a student at Lossiemouth High School and currently part of the Career Ready Programme. As part of the programme, I’m spending four weeks on a work placement with Gleaner, gaining insight into how different departments operate and how the business functions. 

I’m now halfway through my placement and have already had the chance to work in areas such as operations, traffic, and boiler maintenance. In traffic I had to collect, analyse and present information about drivers and vehicles, which I found rewarding and interesting as my work will be presented to the Board of Directors. Over the next two weeks, I’m looking forward to spending some time with the finance and HR teams. It’s been a great opportunity to learn how different parts of a business connect and contribute to the bigger picture. 

I’m still exploring what I’d like to do in the future, so having this kind of experience is really helpful. It’s given me a clearer understanding of the workplace and the types of roles I might be interested in, whether that’s something I study at university or pursue as a career. 

Outside of work and school, I enjoy training in martial arts, and at school I am very busy in my role as Head Girl.
