What is Autogas?
Autogas is the name that is often given to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) - when it is used as an automotive transport fuel.
LPG - Liquefied Petroleum Gas refers to a range of hydrocarbon gases that are easily stored, under pressure, as a liquid. As pressure is released, the liquid vaporises to form a very clean-burning fuel.
Autogas is the cleanest and most practical alternative to petrol and diesel and it attracts considerably less duty.
What are the emissions benefits of Autogas? Vehicles running on autogas emit less harmful pollutants than petrol vehicles, but the most significant reductions are compared with diesels, where the nitrogen oxide emissions (possibly the most important pollutant) are very much lower.
